The main wall features a blank canvas of all white brick, perfect for creating a backdrop to use for the ceremony space or bridal party table. I built the copper arch and attached greenery and hops for color and texture. The hanging lettering was created by Ann Marie & Co. who specializes in custom lazar cut lettering for signs and backdrops.

Staying true to the brewery theme, flower bouquets featured hops and burnt orange "coffee break" roses in addition to white tulips, blue privet berries and burgundy amaryllis.

Ashley + Erik 11.11

Ashley and I met while living in Chicago and we had an instant connection based on our mutual love of food, music, restaurants and all things design/style/fashion. We had a fast friendship and even moved into the same building where we would run up and down the stairs to share meals, stories or drinks on a regular basis (cue the Friends episode!).

In the last couple of years we both ended up back in Iowa and I was ecstatic when Ashley got engaged to her perfect man because 1. he is wonderful and 2. I would get to do her wedding flowers! They picked a date- 11.11 and decided on Rapid Creek Cidery as the ceremony and reception venue. The flowers were going to be the main decor since the venue is stunning on it's own- reclaimed bard wood, tall ceilings, great lighting.

Ashley wanted to use proteas as the focal flower and all shades of burgundy/wine, dusty pinks and greens in everything. She found some eclectic, geometric vases, lanterns and candle holders in rose gold and copper and we put together our plan for table set ups and centerpieces.

Rapid Creek Cidery Reception

Next, the backdrop. This was my dream piece to put together- the colors, the flowers and the vision to create the most romantic/bohemian/moody vibe for the bride and groom's ceremony. I called in all of the favorites for this one- king proteas, pink mink proteas, chocolate dahlias, heart roses, quicksand roses and three varieties of eucalyptus. Erik built the wooden arch using reclaimed wood and Ashley bought the most gorgeous macrame tapestry from BHLDN to hang from it. I think we nailed it:)

Lastly, the bridal bouquet. We again used the king protea as the focal flower, added in some dahlias and lots of silver dollar eucalyptus and tied it together with burgundy velvet ribbon. It's definitely one of my all time favorites.

The day turned out perfectly- beautiful couple and a beautiful wedding surrounded by so much love. Congratulations my friend, thank you for letting me be a part of your special day.

Mike + Ryan's Wedding

This stunning wedding took place on a perfect fall day in Des Moines, Iowa where the urban setting made for a lovely, modern backdrop. Creating Ryan's wedding flowers was exciting for me because she has always been very into fashion and I knew she would have some great ideas to work with. Of course she picked out the perfect color scheme of nude, rose gold and blush and the ideas started rolling from there. We ended up using dahlias, hydrangeas and garden roses as the main focal points and mixed in some blush and rose gold tones. The ceremony took place at Simon Estes Amphitheater followed by a reception at the Des Moines Embassy Club.
